edenfalling: stylized black-and-white line art of a sunset over water (question marks)
I love Wikipedia.

A brief history of central Asia, with links.

Come to think of it, Wikipedia might be very useful for researching that Angel Sanctuary fic, especially since I inexplicably don't have a good college-level world history textbook. (I swear I used to have one, and cannot for the life of me think what might have happened to it. I have books on war, and the history of science/technology/economics, and sociology, and random medieval European stuff, and comparative religions, and even a basic college-level western history textbook... but no world history. Bah.)

Other useful links:

Roman navy
gladius (has links to other sword articles)

history of China (with links to each dynasty/period)

history of India

The average pencil is seven inches long, with just a half-inch eraser -- in case you thought optimism was dead.
---Robert Brault

And the average pen has no eraser; what wild faith we writers have in ourselves!

(Then again, considering the 'delete' and 'backspace' keys, and the appeal of word processors... perhaps pessimism is winning. *contemplates*)
