1. My parents have decided that they haven't seen me in a while (true -- haven't seen Dad in months, or Mom since she visited in August), and therefore they're driving up to visit on Sunday. I'm not quite sure why this is necessary, but I'm not complaining.
2. I am doing part of my sister's research project for her over the next week. It's not really cheating -- I'm not writing anything for her -- I'm just going through a series of library databases and copying the names and abstracts of various articles that might be useful for her project, so she can get full copies of them later. I am doing this partly because I am just that bored, and partly because it's good to get a little practice doing project-type things on a computer. I haven't done anything work-related on a computer since January. (Well, nothing barring résumé tweaks and occasional cover leters, that is.)
3. I have a cheap silver ring with a striated green glass stone, which I bought at a school holiday fair when I was not quite eleven years old. It was too big for me then, but I started wearing it in high school, and have worn it ever since. Two days ago, it broke; the part where the band connects to the stone setting has snapped and now digs into my skin when I try to put it on.
I think I'll look into finding a not too prissy jewelry store and seeing if they can repair this. There's significant sentimental value in that ring.
