Hi! Back in NJ again for Christmas. Today I do laundry (it's vaguely shameful the way I take advantage of my parents, but I loathe walking to and from the laundromat in winter, and work schedules and weather patterns have not been cooperating lately -- ie, it's been raining or threatening rain most of the times when I have free hours), and bake brownies. Also, at some point my Uncle Charles and Aunt Ji-lan will descend upon us for a couple hours, possibly with my cousin Benjamin (and possibly with his cousin) in tow.

I foresee headaches.

But tomorrow is Christmas, and I did finish coralling and wrapping all relevant presents, and my family's doing fine, and my parents' dog is cute (even if she is a sneaky, sneaky little cuss who snitches her own presents from under the tree, carries them upstairs, and eats them when she thinks nobody's looking), so I think everything will work out anyway.

Happy winter solstice holiday of your choice!

(Though, really, since it's already past solstice, your only remaining choice is Christmas. Unless you feel like being retroactive, in which case feel free to do so! *vaguely manic grin*)

This is part 4 of An Ounce of Prevention, which is a Naruto/Harry Potter crossover that I started as a giftfic for [livejournal.com profile] askerian.

Technically, it's an insertion of one element of HP into the Naruto world, but that does count as a crossover of sorts, and the HP element will be playing a larger role as time goes on. This story will not affect canon in either series; that is, it takes place during the Naruto timeskip, and significantly before CoS in HP.

An Ounce of Prevention, chapter 4 )

Laundry is done, but still needs folding. Brownies are baked and cut. Relatives have visited and gone. The evening church service was nice, though whoever was playing Santa at the end really should have aimed his bad humor at the kids instead of trying to be a more adult-level stand up comic.

Also, I think that as a point of ethics, when UUs change the words of hymns and Christmas carols, there should be a notation in the hymnal that the words are not the original version written by the original author. To leave the changes unnoted is deeply misleading, and bothers me on a level I can't quite articulate.
