church dinner thingywhatsit report
Apr. 20th, 2007 09:43 pmIt was a potluck dinner (about 30-40 people in attendence) followed by a question-and-answer session. Also, I tried a weird Finnish dish involving cauliflower, rye bread, beer, cheese, and a bunch of spices. It tastes of cauliflower and nothing, but it has a really weird afterbite... cumin, maybe? The name is polysyllabic and starts with 'ka.' Or maybe 'kaa.'
I tried some grilled and marinated tofu as well. It tasted like it was attempting to be French toast, but hadn't quite succeeded. I found myself wishing for either salt or maple syrup. :-)
The salad and wine were good, though, as was the crab quiche. And I made myself useful both in the clean-up and by participating meaningfully in the discussion part of the evening, so I think it was a good night all in all.
And I will definitely vote in favor of Rev. Grimm.

Absolutely beautiful day up here -- warm, sunny, a hint of cool breezes, the whole works. I ran some errands, did laundry, and wrote about 600 words, so I count it as a productive day as well.
Now I am heading home to read or write some more. :-)
