Apparently I have a secret admirer.

...

Okay, backstory required. See, a few days ago, MS from work noticed a post on Craigslist that seems to refer to me. (It could theoretically refer to MS, who does sometimes wear glasses, but MS is not shy.) MS then replied to the original poster to mention the next day we'd both be working, and invite him (whoever he is) to come to the shop that day.

So far as we know, he didn't show up, and nothing has come of this besides a bit of teasing. (I find that I now look up and answer to 'Mayer's fantasy girl,' if only because MS kept calling me that all day. MS is silly like that. *grin*)

Anyway, this leaves me feeling kind of weird. On the one hand, I don't think this connection is reciprocal -- I haven't a clue who this guy could be. The only customers I really feel any 'connection' with are the ones who stand around and chat for a long time, or who are somehow memorable like the utterly adorable 8- or 9-year-old kid who used to stand on the bottom shelves in order to read gaming magazines, but who now comes and almost silently asks me for the stepstool when he wants to get magazines off the top shelves, and... I'm digressing. Where was I?

So I don't know who this guy is. But, you know, it's not like I really mind having a secret admirer -- from a certain perspective, it's flattering. Although, from another perspective, it's a little worrying: who is this person? What did I do to make him think about me?

And of course, there's the big issue: potentially romantic relationship? Me? Say what??? Because I don't do romance. It's such a lot of work for a return that doesn't interest me all that much.

On the other hand, there are things to be said for trying stuff outside your comfort zone now and then, and nothing says that mystery guy couldn't be a good friend.

I dunno.

It's just weird all around.

All right. Please feel free to comment and fiddle around with this... although if I still end up with a spider, I'm actually okay with that. (Spiders eat mosquitoes and flies, so I like them. *grin*)
