my boring life continues
Aug. 9th, 2008 10:43 pmThings done today:
1. Was awakened by Jehovah's Witnesses ringing my doorbell and complimenting my landlords' flowers.
(I told them, truthfully, that I'd promised a friend that if I ever convert to Christianity, it will be to Mormonism, refused their brochure, wished them a nice day, and shut the door. See, while I find missionaries annoying, I have no hard feelings -- they're often very nice people and they are, by their lights, trying to do me a favor. So I try to be polite and just cut the conversations short before they get anywhere potentially fraught. I find that saying I already own and have read the Bible, or explaining about my promise to become a Mormon, are good lines with which to back into the house and shut the door.)
Once I got back upstairs, I figured I might as well stay up and start my day. *sigh*
2. Got a haircut.
3. Did laundry.
4. Made a packing list for my vacation (I leave Tuesday afternoon, yay!) and started gathering stuff.
5. Twiddled at a couple Ekanu stories and added some more background world-building for Firsthome (Ekanu's world). I have such fun making up religions. :-)
6. Finished reading The Art of War.
7. Read Wild Adapter vol. 5.
8. Wrote 150 words of "Secrets." I am SO SLOW. *headdesk*
