[Fic] "Compatibility" -- Naruto
Oct. 23rd, 2009 11:15 pmI am doing a prompt-ficlet thing at the moment; this is the fourth one, for
lynati_1, to the prompt: And if you're continuing with the prompts, I'd like to submit one for something on Aburame Shino, since he's one of the most underwritten secondary Naruto characters in fandom. (Or canon, for that matter.)
Team 8 in a quiet moment, probably during the timeskip, with lots of speculation about the origin and nature of the Aburame clan's bond with their insects. Warning: if bugs squick you, DON'T READ THIS. Also, mention of miscarriage and the cost of war. (1,500 words) [The slightly revised ff.net version is now up as well.]
Note, 10/24/09: I changed the title from "Blood Borne" to "Compatibility" because the original one was for the story I thought I was writing, not the story that ended up on the page. Oops?
ETA, 5/30/10:
hungrytiger11 remixed this story for Remix Redux 8 as Some Unseen Place on the Opposite Side (An Incompatible Remix), which expands the perspective to show the prices all ninja clans pay for their talents, and is a lovely Hinata character piece as well.
( Compatibility )
You know, despite the inherent ick factor of the Aburame clan's signature technique, I think this is the fluffiest story I have written in months. *boggles*
I have two more prompts in the works (Uchiha Mikoto, for
theodosia21; and an OC-heavy Star Trek fic for
valles_uf), but I am willing to add a couple more to the list if anyone is interested.
