I had today off from work, which was evidently needed because I ended up sleeping for about 13 hours. Clearly I've been pushing myself in order to get things done. :-/ I do feel better now, though, so hopefully I won't be so tired on Saturday, which is my next day off.

(In the normal course of things, I work a five-day week, but which five days I am on and which two I am off are, shall we say, variable. The only constant is that I don't work Sundays before noon, because I told PM when I was hired that I was not available then. Most of us at the smoke shop have certain days and hours marked as "permanently unavailable" for whatever reason, and PM is good about scheduling around them.)

Anyway, I spent the afternoon doing a bit of organizing in the aftermath of my trip, which I had not had the physical or mental energy to do earlier. My suitcase is now put away, I have made a decent stab at going through my collected mail, and I have made a list of people who need thank-you notes for gifts.

Also, I went grocery shopping. Since I temporarily have a car, I took shameless advantage and bought a bunch of things I've needed for a while but didn't buy because of transportation limitations -- stuff like bleach, laundry detergent, multiple boxes of tissues, energy-saving lightbulbs, and so on and so forth. I also bought a half-dozen eggs just for kicks, which resulted in five hardboiled eggs to eat at leisure, plus one scrambled egg for dinner. (The scrambled one had cracked on the way home, or else I'd have six hardboiled eggs. *sigh* Oh well, I make a mean scrambled egg if I do say so myself.)

I've been spending the evening doing archive housekeeping on my journals -- updating my master fic lists and gathering links to make a master post for "Ashes," among other things. I very much like having things tidy and organized, but organization does tend to eat time and thus prevent me from writing.

But! I got a bit of writing done anyway. I finished the inserted scene in "Secrets" ch. 15 wherein Sir Vladislav tells a bit of his life story and relates it to Ginny's current circumstances. Now I get to continue onwards and write Ginny trying to make proper peace with Susan instead of the rough truce they currently have. *makes face* I think that should be the last really emotionally fraught scene in the chapter -- the rest is mostly denouement and people leaving on the Hogwarts Express -- so hopefully once I'm past this bottleneck I can move on a bit faster and maybe get the story done sometime in this life.

(The chapter is currently at 3,600 words. That means I have somewhere between 5,000 and 8,000 to go. And then there's the epilogue, for which I need to do a bit of actual research on Egypt as a tourist destination. *sigh*)

And now back to archive work. *deeper sigh*
