Greetings from Minnesota! My taxi arrived only five minutes late, which, given how dinky the Ithaca airport is, was not a problem at all. The flight to Detroit was slightly delayed on account of thunderstorms, but I had enough time to easily make my flight to Minneapolis/St. Paul, and then enough time to easily make my flight to Bemidji, despite that one leaving from way the hell out the other end of the airport.

Aunt Jan (Dad's sister) left a day or two ago, so Mom, Dad, and I are alone until Sunday night, when Aunt Cara (Mom's sister) arrives. The plan for tomorrow is to do some trail maintenance plus roof cleaning, and go out for dinner at a local restaurant on the mainland that does a Friday fish fry. Over the next few days, we will continue work on the back bedroom (which was recently de-mildewed and is in the middle of a slow renovation project) and also shore up the foundation of our new steps down to the dock.

Our cabin, for reference, is on the east shore of Star Island. The island is basically a giant pile of sand with trees on top and a smaller lake in the middle. The east and west shores are high bluffs, while the north and south shores are low and flat with actual beaches. There are forty-some steps from the top of the east bluff down to our dock.

I took a nap upon arriving at the cabin, which is why I have not yet collapsed of exhaustion. (Sleeping on the three plane flights, while necessary, was not really what I would call restful.) Now I plan to read a bit more in a condensed history of the British East India Company and then go to bed. Sleep sounds VERY appealing right now. :-)
