I, uh, may have written 3,000 words of GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra fanfiction tonight. *headdesk*
I can't help it! There is a single, highly specific story I need to write, after which I will be able to ignore the film as I should have been able to do in the first place. But first I need to finish this story.
The provisional title is "Five Things That Never Happened to Rex and Ana Lewis (And One That Still Might)." Six sections, alternating Rex and Ana POV, five points where I kick the movie's stupid, stupid plot and also try to give basically flat characters some actual depth and backstory.
Section one (Rex gets Duke to delay the airstrike on Mindbender's lab by ten minutes) is done, I have started section two (Ana finds her own purpose -- joining the army -- before Rex can give her an artificial one), and sections three through six have one paragraph concept outlines.
...
I am so embarrassed that I am writing this. *hides face*
---------------
Moving to a completely different subject! Today was Porchfest 2011. Porchfest is a local Ithaca music scene thing where a whole bunch of small groups perform on -- you guessed it -- porches throughout the Northside and Fall Creek neighborhoods. There are three time slots (1-2:30, 2:30-4, and 4-5:30), and not every location will have a group for every time slot.
A couple months ago, Downstairs Neighbor S (who is not my original downstairs neighbor in this house; she replaced L and M and their unknown subletters) asked if the rest of us would mind letting our house be a Porchfest venue. We agreed that that would be a neat thing to do, so Downstairs Neighbor S duly volunteered us.
This meant that from 1pm until 3pm (when I had to leave for work), I got to listen to a rather nice little concert right outside my front window. :-)
(This is about as close as I ever get to cool.)
