I got home from work yesterday and changed into pajamas with the intention of taking a brief nap before dinner... and twenty minutes later said, "Screw it," and just outright went to bed. I did not get up until twelve hours later.
*sigh*
I am not a person who can do fine on six hours of sleep a night. I know people who can, but I don't know how they pull it off. I need eight, and eight and a half is better. I can manage on six or seven for a few days, but then I need to binge sleep to make up the deficit... and that is not ideal, since I live on a cycle where I go to bed around 3am and get up around 10 or 11am. (When your typical work shifts are 11am-6pm or 12-9pm and you are not a morning person in any sense of the word, these things happen.) When I binge sleep, I don't get up until 3 or 4pm, and that leaves me no time to run errands, since the rest of the world so inconveniently believes in having stores open and busses running mostly during the daylight rather than the darkness. *wry*
I always wake up from long nights feeling kind of groggy and drugged, but oh man, it is so worth it to not be fighting off exhaustion all through the day.
And now, since I am feeling all mentally coherent and stuff, I am off to attempt WRITING!
---------------
On an unrelated note, tomorrow I plan to hit up the costume shops at the mall on my way to the grocery store. All I need is a headband with cat ears and a bit of makeup or face paint to draw whiskers. Then I will wear a leopard print shirt and meow or hiss at people, depending on whether they amuse or annoy me. Simple costumes are best when one wants to show willing but has to be at work all afternoon and evening. :-)
