Quote of the Day
Nov. 22nd, 2011 02:34 amI met, not long ago, a young man who aspired to become a novelist. Knowing that I was in the profession, he asked me to tell him how he should set to work to realize his ambition. I did my best to explain. 'The first thing,' I said, 'is to buy quite a lot of paper, a bottle of ink, and a pen. After that you merely have to write.'
---Aldous Huxley
Heh. Nowadays it's more practical to buy a computer and learn to type, but the principle remains the same. The way you learn to write is by writing. Well, and by reading a lot, to get the rhythm and the rules of your chosen language down into your bones and your dreams, but mostly by writing. That's the only secret there is.
And now to bed.
