wine and other pleasant pursuits
Sep. 19th, 2012 10:55 pmWhat I did today:
1. Drove to Six Mile Creek Vineyard (which was an unexpected small adventure due to a detour on 79) and bought four bottles of wine. Because I have a car and I can. :-)
2. Walked into town (exercise, yay! also I hate downtown parking on weekdays) and returned two overdue library books. I have to stop putting books on my coffee table. Anything I set down there mysteriously vanishes from my awareness, even though I look directly at it for at least half an hour every day, not to mention walk past it every time I move from one room to another because all rooms in my apartment connect to my living room and not to each other.
3. Wrote another couple hundred words of "The Corners of the World," in which Jadis is creepy and creates an army to take over the Western Wild. Now I get to figure out how to segue from that to her conquest of Narnia without recapitulating "Little Sister" in its entirety. Argh. This is especially annoying because all the other sections flow into each other in strict chronological sequence. Things may be skimmed, but never skipped.
(This is why it's a bad idea to write segments of a larger story on their own before you finish the larger story.)
4. Did some more work on Dad's mass spectrometry encyclopedia, yay! Which included cropping and resizing a digital photograph, because the submitted version included twice as much gray border space as actual photograph and was also very Giant Floating Head, which is just tacky. So I made it look slightly less amateur. :-)
Now I am going to drink a glass of my nice new wine and maybe try to write Homestuck porn for a couple kinkmeme prompts I have been eyeing. I have decided that porn writing is best done at night with the assistance of alcohol -- sex is an inherently silly activity, so writing it seems to work best when I am feeling somewhat relaxed and silly myself. *grin* (Also I think porn writing works better at some specific times of the month than at others, but hormones, what can you do. *thwaps ovaries*)
