Oct. 12th, 2012 01:56 amToday was supposed to be my day off, but AS got sick so I went in and covered his shift, 4-9pm. Which is fine -- I think it will kick me into overtime for the week, and I can use the money after missing so many hours when I was sick -- but kind of annoying because it throws off my plans. Ah well, such is life.
The only vaguely interesting part of the evening was actually not interesting at all in practice. There was a bomb threat on the Commons, so the SWAT team was called in and a large area was roped off with caution tape while the police investigated. What happened, apparently -- and I have this story entirely second- and third-hand -- was that somebody left a cardboard box labeled "bomb" at Bank of America. *headdesk* And for that, the police were out for at least three hours, from before 4pm to around 7-ish.
SO STUPID.

I wrote about 650 words of "Trollstuck" after I got home, some of which replaced a section I wrote yesterday. I made the change because it hit me that if Equius were in the room when Jothan came to, that would make this section the first live, in-person dialogue in the story. And I don't want that! That change in storytelling technique should mark a dramatic, climactic moment in chapter 7, not a stupid comedic interlude thing. So I shoved Equius off to salvage Jothan's rocket bike and made him leave a note instead.
I also wrote a couple hundred words of "Damaged Goods," which is the Karkat-POV Narutostuck story I started months ago and stalled out on. I have just about maneuvered him to his first meeting with his new teammates and teacher, which now requires me to figure out how and why he previously met Dave. (Terezi is easy; they were childhood friends before Karkat got locked up on account of ~illegal mutation~ and also being the Sufferer's descendant and stuff.) I am pretty sure Dave and Karkat were in the same prison at some point, but I am very unsure of the details and obviously cannot proceed until I nail them down. Hmm. Also I need to figure out Terezi's backstory with Vriska, because while Vriska is (of course) responsible for Terezi's blindness, the details cannot be the same as in canon. *ponders*
