lament for free time lost
May. 28th, 2013 09:53 pmThings I hate: being sick. Even when I don't actually feel sick.
I felt an encroaching cold yesterday, making my nose start to run and the back of my throat feel raw, so I figured I'd go to bed early and try to sleep it off.
I slept for freaking thirteen hours. Then after only five hours of being awake, I had to go take a three hour nap. And I fully plan to sleep another eleven hours before going to work on Wednesday.
It seems to be working -- my throat feels almost back to normal, my nose hasn't been running as much, I've hardly sneezed at all today, the weird joint aches never really got a chance to settle in, etc. Sleep is the best medicine, and an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, as the saying goes.
...
I just wish this didn't always seem to happen on my days off! I wanted to go see Star Trek: Into Darkness today! I wanted to do laundry and repot some peppers and go to the library and a bunch of other things!
Alas for my good intentions. :-/
