Holy shit that was a lot of rain. It took me five and a half hours to drive from Ithaca to Madison. Normally it takes four. And that's only if traffic is bad and I stop for a 15-minute nap en route -- I can do it in about three and a half if I'm efficient at rest stops and I speed a bit.
(Oh. Greetings from New Jersey, by the way! I am in the middle of the first of three planned micro-visits to water my parents' plants, pick up their held mail and send anything important on to Cass Lake, and make their house look less uninhabited than it really is. *grin*)
But anyway, I think it was raining for something like 3/4 of my drive, and then the last bit it was pouring rain in rush hour on I-287, and I was thinking, "I am less than 10 miles from home, why can I not just snap my fingers and be there already, oh god kill me now." But I survived.
I went over to Susan's for dinner -- we split a small pepperoni and mushroom pizza from Papa Johns and watched Casino Royale because none of the movies available at reasonable times and reasonable distances sounded very exciting to us. I gave her her birthday present (a few days early, alas for intractable work schedules!) and we are meeting again tomorrow for breakfast.
Hopefully the drive back north will be less wet.
