Jane Crocker submits a job application to the district legislacerators. The resulting interview process is unique. Guest-starring Terezi Pyrope! (2,025 words)

This fic was written for Cotton Candy Bingo in response to the prompt: I becomes we. (Yes, really. I swear this is fluff. It's just, you know, fluff as adjusted for background Homestuck levels of WTF and dystopia.)

I really want to write more in this world now. There is such a lot of world-building that needs to be filled in around the edges -- to start with, does this universe have interstellar travel, and if so, are trolls and humans from the same planet or not? I don't know and I want to find out!

I also want to write Jane and Terezi during their actual training sessions, and on their first case, and dealing with Aradia and Dave who are a medium and forensic examiner pair, and... oh, all kinds of things. Yeah.

Maybe someday. *makes wistful notes*

1. One thing I particularly hate about being sick is that I can't drink Coca-Cola. It dries out my throat, you see. This is not normally an issue, but if my throat is already fucked up, Coke becomes irritating to drink, if not outright painful. Which sucks, because I freaking love Coke.

So tonight I made a pot of Darjeeling (from a Bigelow tea bag; yes, I am a tea heathen; bite me) to have with my Chinese takeout instead of my usual can of Coke.

Side note on Coke and food: For whatever reason, I have noticed that Coke goes very nicely with most Chinese food. Indian food, on the other hand, tends to taste like fried ass when paired with Coke. Different spice mixes, I guess. Indian food also doesn't usually pair well with a green tea or an oolong -- you want something black and strong, or maybe beer, but I don't like beer so that's a moot point. Chinese food goes okay to awesome with pretty much every tea I've tried, though jasmine is a particularly good choice.

2. I just spent half an hour redoing the character and pairing metadata on my ff.net fics, since they now allow one to list up to four characters and group them into up to two romantic pairings. (You can also group them in threesomes, for the record.) And! All fandoms with character selection lists now have "OC" as an option on that list, so I was able to make the character listings for "Apartment Manager," "Guardian," "Undertow," and "Out of Season" less completely misleading than they'd previously been.

3. So yesterday's little Jane & Terezi fic got a very nice reception over on Tumblr (where I also go by "edenfalling," FYI) -- I think it has the most likes and reblogs of anything I've posted there. I have no idea why that fic, rather than any of my others, but hey. I'll take it. :-)

I should probably poke at the background world-building and see if I can write anything else with those versions of the characters. Or I could get back to poking at "Trollstuck," which I really want to finish so I can set to work on "Lemonade," as per my Plan of Action. *ponders* *ponders really hard* (*with tea, of course*)
