new job update!
Jan. 19th, 2015 07:42 pmToday was my third day at Not the IRS, and I think I am getting the hang of things. I definitely have the answer-the-phone patter down, and I'm learning how to manage the quirks of the appointment/calendar program that didn't come up in the basic tutorials. I also worked through the office's drawer of old client files that need to be paid or signed or whatevered -- this involved an awful lot of calling numbers that have been disconnected, or that aren't accepting calls/messages, or whose voicemail boxes are full. It also involved a lot of writing notes to the employees who handled the cases in question, because there was no contact info and/or no record of what action was needed to close the file.
My schedule for the next couple weeks is currently in flux. This is because I am officially assigned to three offices: two up near the mall, which are run by a woman I will henceforth call Hill Boss, and one down on Rt. 13, run by a woman henceforth known as Valley Boss. My nominal home base is one of the hill offices, but Hill Boss was away on a short vacation until today, so she and Valley Boss are now negotiating who gets me where and when. (This is complicated by some scheduling confusion around a few other employees, so it's not like I'm the only piece of the puzzle being moved around.) I will have to check my schedule every day for a while until things settle down.
It feels SO GOOD to be working again!
