Since I made that post asking for a WIP Big Bang artist, I suppose I should talk a little about my progress.

I have "The Courting Dance" completely outlined, where by 'outlined' I mean I have written a short synopsis of what needs to happen and some points I need to hit at the climax (er. political climax. the romance climax was ch. 7 with the impromptu wedding) and have assigned POV characters and a one- or two-sentence breakdown to each of the remaining chapters. I am still planning for 15 total, though this might expand depending on how much stuff I find myself trying to cram into Aravis's concluding POV chapter. I think I have ways to move a bunch of the necessary setup into other people's POVs, and the story structure is forgiving of abrupt time-and-setting jumps between chapters which should let me leave out a bunch of connective scenes I'd normally need to fit in, but we'll see how it shakes out in practice.

(If I end up expanding stuff, I'll have to go back and rearrange some POVs because if I do make that expansion, it will have to be two chapters -- one each for Aravis and Cor, because this is ultimately their story -- and I think it would read oddly to switch from a widely rotating set of POVs to a strictly alternating Aravis-Cor-Aravis at the very end.)

I have chs. 9 and 10 complete in second draft and am about halfway through the rough draft of ch. 11. I got horribly hung up on ch. 9 (Peridan POV) for a long time, because I knew roughly what had to happen -- Aravis and Cor arrive in Cair Paravel and discuss their political tangle with Peridan and possibly some of his advisers -- but couldn't figure out a functional way to approach that. (That is why I ran my mini-ficlet prompt meme, so as to reassure myself that I could still write something.) Once I finally found the right starting point and physical setting, everything flowed quite nicely, and I was able to continue onward to ch. 10 (epistolary, between two OCs) and get that done in only three days total.

Ch. 11 (Cor POV) is being annoying again, but less intractably so than ch. 9. Once I get through it and ch. 12 (currently slated for Lune POV), I will be in a better position to judge whether or not I'll need to tack on two extra chapters and rearrange some stuff leading up to the conclusion.

So that's where I stand and what I will be working on for the next few weeks. :)
