four peppers in terracotta or plastic pots on a kitchen table
1) four peppers, Monday, 19 December 2016

a small pepper plant . two small bell peppers with human fingers for scale
2) the Lazarus pepper, possibly gearing up for a second attempt to bloom?
3) the decapitated pepper, just kind of chilling

one red bell pepper with human fingers for scale . one red-orange bell pepper with human fingers for scale
4) the repotted pepper, pretty much ripe
5) the pepper that lost an entire branch to squirrels, also pretty much ripe

As you can see, the two peppers that were ripening last week are now pretty much ripe. I will probably pick them on Tuesday or Wednesday, and chop and freeze them for storage. (I am not going to do any cooking projects until after Christmas.)

Meanwhile the decapitated pepper's fruits have not gone squishy again, so I'm happy. And the Lazarus pepper looks like it may be gearing up for a second attempt at flowers after all -- at least, one of its buds seems to be growing a little. I think this is frankly ridiculous, but who am I to stand in the way of a plant's determination to reproduce? :)

(The bandaid on my left thumb is not covering a cut, FYI. It's just part of my yearly attempt to keep the skin at the edges of my thumbnails from splitting open due to the coldness and dryness of the air. It is a perpetual rearguard action; I never actually win. *sigh*)
