I thought I'd managed to avoid an incipient cold this week, but yesterday evening it broke through my defenses while I was at work. Ugh. I had some success sleeping it into a truce -- by which I mean I was no worse today than I was yesterday around 6pm, and in fact felt significantly less awful than I did yesterday around 9pm -- but I still spent the day feeling achy, drained, and gunky around the nose and throat. Also I drank so much tea and fruit juice, and ate a clementine along with lunch, because vitamin C.

Now I am going to take a hot shower and then give sleeping the cold into defeat another try.

(This is really the best way to deal with colds, I have found. Don't try to tough things out unless you absolutely have to. Just sleep as much as physically possible, take hot showers twice a day, and drink lots and lots of tea-with-honey and fruit juice.)
