New Hire did not work out -- she called in unavailable again, and had been half an hour late a couple times (which is not acceptable for a job that involves opening the office on time) -- so she has been let go. Mom Boss and Aunt Boss decided to change the office locks rather than have New Hire drive all the way in just to return her key.

And apparently we already have another trial employee lined up. Who knew? I hereby dub her New Hire 2, until and unless she sticks it out and earns a proper nickname. She starts Wednesday.

I was offered a chance at overtime tomorrow, but I already have plans that involve me being out of state -- I am catching a bus down to NJ to have dinner with Susan in belated honor of her birthday, and to steal my step-grandmother's car from my parents -- so that didn't work out.

I will meet New Hire 2 on Saturday. Here's hoping she's both nice and competent. *crosses fingers*
