So I'd been procrastinating on my first government class quiz because it's a timed quiz (only twenty minutes) and I was all "aaaaaah, but what if it's hard, and I'm not sure I remember the readings and videos that well, and even if it's open book is that enough time to look things up, aaaaaaaah" and just winding myself up tighter than a laundry-wringer.

And then today I told myself, "Liz, remember: half-assed is better than no-assed. There is no way you can miss all the answers, and even a 10% is better than a 0, so just suck it up, make sure you have your textbook right beside you, and open the quiz."

It was such a stupidly easy quiz. I was done in under six minutes. I got 100%.

...

This is the power of allowing yourself to half-ass stuff. Often, the stuff in question winds up not being nearly as hard as you've made it out to be and you do a really good job! And even if you don't, half-assed is still better than no-assed.

Nobody needs to be walking around no-assed. That's just tacky. ;)

I got my hospital bills today, which is a big weight off my mind. I was pretty sure my insurance covered most of the expenses, and there was no unexpected ambulance bill waiting to ambush me this time (protip: always make sure your insurance covers ambulance rides!), but even so, there was always the chance of unpleasant surprises.

But no, just a $75 copay for the emergency room, CT scan, and medications, and a separate $25 copay for laboratory fees. $100 is still not what I'd call pocket change, but it's a hell of a lot better than the several thousand dollars it would have been if I'd had to pay the whole bloody thing out of pocket.

Fortunately my cash flow is pretty decent these days, so I was able to write the checks immediately and get them in the mail this afternoon. And now I am free! :DDD
