Things done this morning:

1. Remembered to brew and bring tea to work. \o/

2. Added ~225 words to the Narnia/Naruto crossover, this time new action rather than explanatory backfill. I continue to like Character X an awful lot, and now she and Tsunade are having a sort of mutual "we are old soldiers and know exactly how this situation is going to go but we might as well be polite about it until someone starts the inevitable violence" thing going on. :)

I think I need to do a little more backfill, though, because it just occurred to me that in the years immediately after Jadis's conquest of Narnia and imposition of the Winter, the Secret Police were probably still structured more like an army and therefore had some armor -- you know, throat guards and maybe a bit of padded/quilted material on chest and flanks, if not full on mail or plate. Which will naturally affect options during the inevitable violence, and should be mentioned in the Police characters' introductory scene.

3. Did one tax return for a walk-in client. Also provided some useful advice, so go me!

4. Started reading Expelling the Poor: Atlantic Seaboard States & the 19th-Century Origins of American Immigration Policy by Hidetaka Hirota.

5. Finalized arrangements for transportation to and from my Saturday evening event. Said event is an annual wine tasting hosted by some members of my congregation. I went to this last year and enjoyed it very much, which is why I bought a ticket for this year at the 2019 service auction. :)

And now to continue sitting around doing general office maintenance things in between reading and writing. *wry*

Things done since noon:

1. Continued at Not the IRS until 4pm. I didn't have any additional tax clients of my own, but I did a bunch of general admin stuff (answering phones, playing receptionist, final processing on a coworker's client's return since she wasn't there to do it herself, texting our boss about a different coworker's computer glitch, etc.).

2. Added another ~50 words to the Narnia/Naruto crossover, which were mostly backfill about armor and a brief dialogue exchange to better illustrate various characters' emotional states at one point.

3. Spent half an hour googling recipes for wine tasting appetizers, printed a handful, and then picked one (a sort of savory, cheesy bread/biscuit thing) based both on how easy it would be to acquire the ingredients and on whether it's something I can make the night before and then warm up a little right before catching my ride to the event.

4. Bought groceries, including appetizer supplies.

5. Folded and put away some laundry from Sunday. (There's still a bunch left sitting in the laundry bag on my sofa. *sigh*)

6. Board of Trustees meeting 6-8pm. We discussed a lot of things, including our organizational plans to deal with COVID-19.

After the meeting, I nabbed a bag of rolls left over from Sunday's Stewardship campaign kickoff lunch, because they were only going to go stale and bad sitting in the church kitchen so somebody might as well get some use out of them. (Said somebody, of course, being me. *angelic smile*)

7. Decided to do my test bake of the appetizer tomorrow morning/early afternoon rather than tonight because I'm tired and should be heading off to bed.

And now I'm going to finish my dinner and fall into bed. :)

I would just like to note for the record that today I passed 25,000 words written for the year. I am a third of the way to my yearly [community profile] getyourwordsout pledge of 75,000 words. \o/

(Not all of these words have been posted -- this particular challenge goes very literally by words written -- which is a new and different metric for me to track -- but whatever. Also I am probably being slightly inaccurate in that I am just counting total number of words in a document after each writing session rather than tracking changes to account for words added and removed in the editing process, but again, whatever.)

I don't always feel like I'm writing much of anything on any given day, but it's nice to have a concrete number I can point at and say, "Look, that is a thing I did." :D

...

Also, as has doubtless become obvious, I did not finish the Narnia/Naruto crossover this past weekend. My current goal is to finish it by the end of this week, which is probably more doable. *wry*
