Laptop reacquired! Geek Squad did some cleanup on my operating system and my bluescreen problem is supposedly fixed; we'll see if that holds true over the next few days. In presumably related news, my taskbar has unexpectedly turned light gray instead of black and the tickybox that SHOULD let me fix that is mysteriously un-clickable. *frowns at Microsoft* I like a dark taskbar; it lends visual weight to the bottom of the screen and is far more aesthetically pleasing than industrial plastic bland to boot.

[ETA: Nevermind, I figured it out and my taskbar is once again vaguely translucent black, as nature intended.]

The webcam and battery are, unsurprisingly, hardware issues and thus not covered by the Best Buy service plan. I will decide over the next week or so whether I care enough to take my computer in to a local repair shop and let them pry bits of it apart to check the wiring and so forth.

Also, if I have failed to respond to a post or a comment, I am probably still not going to catch up on all that until Friday or Saturday, because I am working five hours on Wednesday and then 9am-6pm on Thursday. We're still doing a Red Queen's race trying to get ahead on photographs and videos and such while also staying on top of our normal tasks, and now that Cornell has announced their fall schedule (really sneaky-like! we learned about it from a tenant's parent's phone call and I then pulled up the relevant web pages) I expect we're going to be swamped by phone calls. And Mom Boss is on vacation this week. Did I mention that she's on vacation? Because she is, and while she absolutely, completely, and utterly SHOULD get a vacation, this is... well, this is not the most ideal week in the world, shall we say. *sigh*

Ah well, at least I get paid for my woes. And frankly, editing photos is fairly light work. Uploading them to Shutterfly is also relatively mindless work. It's deciding which ones should go onto our website that's the problem, because we have a strict 14-photo limit. (I mean, it's technically 15 images, but the first is always a floor plan, so.) I have to exercise judgment and stuff, and sometimes play mix-n-match with new and old photos to make sure I get everything represented.

...

I had to edit that last paragraph an unreasonable number of times to make it coherent, which suggests to me that I should go fall into bed. Yes. Sleep is good. :)

...

Oh right, Cornell's schedule! Yeah so, the basic plan is to start fall classes a week or two later than usual, on September 2, have a mix of in-person and virtual instruction until Thanksgiving, after which the students go home and the end of the semester will be entirely virtual. Spring semester will also start late, during the first week of February, and I'm not sure they have a solid plan for how to handle various spring break options. We have already had calls asking for three-month leases (Sept-Oct-Nov) and I expect that will only get worse as the news spreads.

But enough of Cornell. SLEEP!
