adulting is hard
Jul. 4th, 2020 12:50 pmThings I have done so far today:
1. Answered some comments I'd been avoiding for a while. Continued avoiding others.
2. Bought a tiny fruit tree. I have mostly conquered my tendency to hoard scented candles and pretty wrapping paper, but my plant hoarding is... uh... let's just say I have a lot of plants, okay?
3. Got through ~90 percent of my Not the IRS job application for the 2021 tax season, but was unable to complete and submit it because their document uploader is ancient and glitchy as fuck so I couldn't attach my cover letter or my current resume. *headdesk*
...
I'm going to go bang things into my ceiling for a bit. I think that will be less frustrating.

ETA, 3:30pm
Things done since my initial post:
1. Successfully hammered and then screwed the two remaining hooks into my kitchen ceiling and moved the final spider plant to hang in front of my kitchen windows. I now have four in a row, one in front of each window pane. It's very nice. I will try to remember to post a photo. :D
2. Ate lunch.
3. Answered some more of the comments I'd been avoiding, though there are still quite a few on the list staring reproachfully at me. *sigh*
4. Checked to see if the Not the IRS job application site had fixed their technical glitch. They had! So I uploaded my cover letter and resume -- and doubled back to reenter a bunch of information that inexplicably got lost off a previous page -- and have submitted my application.
My current plan is to answer a few more comments, finish a library book that's due on Monday, and then take a walk once the temperature cools to an only mostly unbearable heat.

ETA, 9:45pm
Things done since my previous ETA:
1. Answered a few more comments. There are still several I'm avoiding. (Social interaction is hard, okay?)
2. Read a chapter of the library book, but didn't finish it. Some nonfiction is a quick read. This particular nonfiction, not so much. (Interesting and worthwhile, sure! Easy reading, nope.)
3. Took a walk.
4. Various gardening tasks, to wit: A) Restrung the twine that forms the crossbars of my raspberry trellises, since some of the strands had rotted and snapped; I picked two whole raspberries while I was at it, woohoo. B) Staked my jalapenos since they're getting just tall enough to be tragically floppy. C) Picked another ridiculous amount of blackberries.
5. Ate dinner.
6. Baked banana bread.
7. Began prepping for laundry tomorrow, during which process I realized I need to withdraw some cash in order to pay for all the washer and dryer cycles at the laundromat. I will tack an ATM visit onto my daily walk.
And now I'm going to read a little bit of fic before heading off to bed, because I would like to get back onto a more reasonable sleep schedule. I am so much more productive when I get up before 9am, you know?
