So, things.

I have been SO BUSY.

Work continues to be one damn thing on top of six others, but that in itself would be manageable. The trouble is that at the moment my church Board of Trustees position is also one damn thing on top of six others for reasons I am not going to talk about here because legal confidentiality is a thing. Just, this is a hell of a way for our three new members to jump into their terms of service, and also a hell of a way for me to start my year as Clerk and part of the executive committee (which, you know, I accepted because somebody has to do it and nobody else was stepping up, but eeek).

I am also currently signed up for three writing exchanges/challenges that are all due Real Soon Now, plus there's still the whole Covid-19 everything, plus the upcoming election, plus plus plus.

I mean, none of this on its own is particularly terrible? It's just all of them at once and I am Very Stressed.

*sigh*

Right. I am going to drink another cup of tea, and then I will walk into town to see about buying my dad a birthday gift and mailing him a card. After that, writing. So much writing. And groceries. And putting away Sunday's clean laundry. And... and other things, but I am not going to think about them just yet.

Yes. That is my plan.

(Oh, nearly forgot: some completely tangential news! I scheduled my next blood donation today, and while I was logged in to the Red Cross site, I have learned that as of my last blood donation (July 28), I did not have any Covid-19 antibodies. The Red Cross is now doing free antibody testing as part of the donation process, which I think is helpful of them. I mean, I did not expect to have any antibodies, since I am pretty sure I have not been meaningfully exposed to any chance of catching Covid-19 -- Ithaca, as with most of NY state, is being Very Serious about masks, etc. -- but it's still nice to know.)

I keep forgetting to crosspost these because my brain interprets posting on [community profile] fan_flashworks as functionally equivalent to posting on my own journal and making multiple posts on the same website feels weird.

Anyway!

Summary: "Take me anywhere but here!" the princess said when the fairy appeared in her tower prison. (515 words)

Note: Written 8/30/20 in response to the [community profile] fan_flashworks challenge: anywhere but here, as part of the August 2020 amnesty round.

As per the community rules, this post will just be a link to the fic text on [community profile] fan_flashworks until the current challenge closes, at which point I will move the actual ficlet over here. But for now, a link: I Shall Repay

Hands up anyone who's surprised I wrote a fairy-tale. Nobody? Yeah, I thought not. *wry*
