a damp day
Nov. 13th, 2021 09:22 pmWe thought we had a new hire lined up for the Collegetown office, but they called out sick on their first day and then the next day reported they'd accepted a different job elsewhere in Ithaca and would not take the position. This strikes me as slightly disingenuous -- like, I am totally cool with applying to multiple places at once, but it's rude to accept one job under under false pretenses. So I spent the afternoon up at the Collegetown office this afternoon, as I have done for the past several Saturdays.
I was alone from 4pm onward, since Miss California left early to attend the annual Cortaca Jug football game between SUNY Cortland and Ithaca College. I have never gone to a Cortaca game, but I believe Miss Cactus's partner made the most recent trophy jug (after the second jug ran out of room to record game results), and Miss California's partner is some kind of junior coach in the SUNY system, so I have been tangentially exposed.
Cortland won this year, 28 to 27. So far as I know, there have been no riots or overturned cars! :p (That mostly seems to have stopped after 2013/2014. Also it's raining/sleeting, which tends to put a damper on people being violent idiots out in public, you know?)
I spent my morning working to turn an architectural blueprint into a key plan for a building that we can A) post on the website and B) include in a building overview tour video. I also showed some prospects two 2-bedroom apartments, and it looks like they will rent one of them. :)
In the afternoon, there was some minor excitement when an employee of the chicken place nearby parked in my staff parking spot in Collegetown and I very nearly had them towed before we figured out who the interloping car belonged to. And then I responded to some inquiries and sent rent reminder emails, as one does.
It was a slow day. Given the rain, I am not particularly surprised. *wry*
