half a week
Aug. 24th, 2022 11:32 pmMonday in the Collegetown office was intense, but in a fairly predictable and kind of relaxed way? By which I mean there were a lot of packages; about 300 people coming in to pay their annual internet fees; and some miscellaneous rent payments, maintenance requests, and phone calls. None of that particularly required me to think, you know? Also I got to stay close to my desk, and downtown was pretty chill so I didn't have a lot of email to field.
Tuesday I did various chores and errands: bought groceries, refilled the gas in my car, took my kitchen compost to the communal backyard bin, put away the last of my clean laundry, returned an overdue library book, paid my September rent, etcetera.
Today was absurdly low-key compared to the previous month and a half. We had a couple emails about situations that will take some work to untangle, but aside from that I spent my day doing some laundry (we rented Mr. All Hat's company-subsidized apartment last week, so I stole some of his extraneous linens to be next year's staging materials -- the rest of his crap got boxed and shipped to NYC), some photo editing, and a bunch of video uploads. My current plan is to get all the raw video uploaded to our social media guy as soon as possible, so I will have at least one task complete by the time we get sucked into the new 2023-24 rental cycle.
Today I also signed up for all my relevant tax CE courses for the year, and started plugging through the Ethics & Due Diligence course. This year I am venturing beyond intermediate level courses to tackle two advanced level courses -- one on rental properties and one on retirement income. I chose those two partly because they have been updated since last year, and partly because I have clients for whom those issues are extremely relevant. I may poke around to see if anything else looks useful, but for now I definitely have enough credits lined up to meet my IRS requirements.
And now I am going to bed, because sleep is, as always, both necessary and delicious. :)
