travel plans
Nov. 22nd, 2022 05:10 pmIt's been a little while, eh?
Anyway, I will be traveling for the next few days, on account of Thanksgiving. We're doing it in Chicago again this year, because A) that's where Aunt C lives and B) it's between New York and Minnesota so it inconveniences both me AND the Mom-Dad-Nick collective.
I'm going to put in a couple hours driving tonight, leaving directly from work. Then I drive about 7 hours more on Wednesday before stopping short of Chicago. It's a short travel day, I know! That is because I am highly susceptible to highway fatigue, so I need frequent stops to take a 10-minute "nap" and let my eyes relax and reset -- which means a 7-hour trip is actually more like 9 hours when you factor in the naps and the lost time for getting on and off the highway.
I will arrive in Chicago on Thursday morning, we'll do Thanksgiving in the afternoon and probably take a family walk at some point, and then I think the sleeping plan is that Mom stays with Aunt C because she's not allergic to cats, Nick gets a hotel room to himself on account of health issues and noise sensitivity, and Dad and I share a hotel room (with separate beds) because he snores and I am noisy while settling in to sleep. (I am very quiet once asleep! But I move around a lot and blow my nose and generally drive Nick up the wall until I conk out.)
We will do some sort of breakfast on Friday, maybe even an early brunch, and then I start driving back east. I will stop somewhere in Ohio, and then get home midday on Saturday, whereupon I intend to take a long nap. :)

I will make a LOT of progress through my latest podcasts and audiobooks.
