So the night before I go home, the night before I'll have to do lots of heavy lifting, I manage to stab myself in the hand with a pencil.

F*cking ouch!

Right in the fleshy palm between my index finger, thumb, and wrist, just out past the base of my thumb.

It is really damn hard to get a bandaid to stay there, especially since I'm prone to sweaty hands and it's rather warm here at the moment. I have this weird contraption of multiple bandaids acting as anchors to other bandaids, since I don't have any adhesive tape.

Thank god I hadn't packed the bandaids yet!

Does anyone know how long it takes for the graphite stain to work out of the skin?

(There should be a mood for "in pain, damnit" or something similar. "Sore" does not quite cut it.)

ETA, 5/4/08: Nearly four years later, the graphite mark is still there -- a sort of greenish-black stain under my skin. I'm just grateful we don't use lead in pencils anymore!
