I like this - doubly so because the insight into Sasuke's thinking shows that he actually isn't a sociopath... his society has different limits. Faith and Duo have been raised in modern/futuristic worlds, where the decision that 'torture is bad' has taken root and grown. In the world of Naruto, that sort of thinking has only barely begun - if that.

Which is not to say that the kid isn't messed up. But it's a different kind of messed up than what the automatic assumption would suggest. He's conditioned by experience and necessity to accept something that his society considers to only be a grey area of morality.

And it was very interesting to read this chapter right after reading that link on torture, and see some of those thoughts being played out.
