So I am an idiot and completely forgot to set my clocks forward last night, but fortunately I discovered my error (via my cellphone, of all things) a couple hours ago, well before I have to be anywhere important, so all is, if not peachy-keen, at least functional.

It's still embarrassing, though. Stupid gov't and their stupid mucking around with things that weren't broken in the first place.

---------------

In other news, yesterday I went on a tour of a local oboe workshop, which is the small personal business of a member of my congregation. She makes old two-key oboes, often called Hautboy oboes, which are utterly gorgeous instruments, albeit a bit complicated to play in some ways. (Because there are no keys, you have to be careful about covering the finger-holes completely, and you do a lot more work with pressure on the reed and adjustment of air flow. Also, the spacing of the holes is such that it's a greater stretch on the fingers.)

She told me that the International Double Reed Society is having their annual conference in Ithaca this June. I would really like to visit that.

I have got to start playing my poor oboe again. I have neglected it for far too long, since I've been too lazy to find a local orchestra, chamber group, or anything like that. I am shamefully out of practice. :-(

I know what you mean about being out of practice. I miss singing in a choir like I did back in high school. You'd think it'd be easier to keep in practice when the only instrument you use is your voice, but I haven't actually given my voice a really good workout in a few years, so I'm rather rusty. *makes a face* I can't hit those high notes as firmly as I used to, which annoys the hell outta me...
