---Rose Daughter, Robin McKinley (fantasy: a retelling of "Beauty and the Beast," quieter and more equivocal than her first such retelling. I especially like the ending, which solves one of the problems I began to have with the traditional ending as I got older.)
I've been trying to remember the original story but my brain keep giving me the Disney version. The only problem I have with the story is that during the entire thing the prince was working towards having Belle loves him so he can be human again. Which just makes me thinks that he's still selfish and really haven't learned anything. But then my favourite enchanted prince story is East of the Sun, West of the Moon./i>
