Star Island, Day 3, and a writing update
Aug. 3rd, 2004 06:09 pmAuntie Jan and Uncle Bob have left the island, after giving us the grand tour of their jazzed-up van. (My cousin Brian is a woodworker, and helped them put in all sorts of things, from a refrigerator to tool chests to a bed to a port-o-potty!)
It's a gorgeous day, though just a wee bit windy for sitting on the dock. I kayaked up the shore a ways and ran into Nancy Cheeseman (from the King cottage) going out for a sail. Then Dad kayaked all the way up to the East Portage in to Windigo.
In non-island news, I finished the 6,500 word Gormenghast fic that ate my brain. I am setting it aside for a while, until I feel ready to subject it to the Editing Pen of Death. In the meantime, I can finish the two extra chapters of a Labyrinth fic that also recently attacked me.
And then can I get back to "Secrets," please? *sigh* I really wish all the stupid plot bunnies would just go away and let me work on my current WIPs.

(Though you ought to read it just because it's a fairly decent bit of literature... at least the first two books. Being a fan of Steerpike, Fuchsia, Flay, Dr. Prunesquallor, and Gormenghast Castle itself rather than of Titus, I found it hard to work up much enthusiasm for book three.)
