The downside of being fascinated by story structure is that I tend to plan stories whose outlines look something like this:

The Three Sisters:

1. The Three Sisters, I: introducing Kathry, Sai, and Ithardy, which (after Tel's arrival) segues into

2. The Changeling Prince, I: introducing Prince Telisharr, Queen Hone, Prince Jardai, and Thalassa the sea-queen, which then segues into either

2a. The Three Sisters, interlude 1: in which they divy up the quests

OR directly into

3. The Castle in the Air: in which Kathry goes on her part of the tripartite quest, followed by

4. The Glass Mountain: in which Sai goes on her quest, followed by

5. The Garden of the Sun: in which Ithardy goes on her quest (possibly helped and/or hindered by Tel), which segues into either

5a. The Three Sisters, interlude 2: in which they all return to Immish

OR directly into

6. The Changeling Prince, II: in which they negotiate new terms for the fostering alliance, which segues into

7. The Three Sisters, II: in which Kathry, Sai, and Ithardy part ways.

...

I'm not sure what possessed me to think it would be fun to try jamming five fairy-tales into one story (and they're all original fairy-tales, too, though they do use a lot of standard tropes), but hashing this out on paper is giving me a massive headache.
