1. I forgot to turn on my alarm clock last night, and consequently didn't wake up until 11:40am. I was supposed to be at work at noon. *headdesk* I called the store to apologize and I got in around 12:25, so it wasn't a catastrophe, but still. Very embarrassing!

2. I have been an astoundingly uncreative lump this past week or so, but I did finally finish going over ch. 13 of "Secrets" with the Editing Pen of Death. And I have made the corresponding changes in the beta draft... except for one scene. Which is the scene that is causing problems in ch. 14. I wrote the original version as something of a space filler, and then realized when I was trying to write ch. 14 that the stated reactions of the characters involved made no sense and were tangling up everything that had to follow along that plot thread.
So I took a couple days to work out what each character's motives and reactions should have been. Which is all well and good and logical. Yay.
Unfortunately, now I have to write the new scene, which is likely to be at least 200-500 words longer than the version it's replacing. It may also leave Ginny in a different emotional place, which would force me to tweak the opening of the next scene in ch. 13 and possibly revise some internal monologue passages later on.
(I think the fundamental problem here is that I'm trying to match "Secrets" up with "Five Years Is an Awful Lot of Later" and "First You Have to Get There." This is ultimately futile, because I've already used a different version of the 'Harry explains the plot' scene in McGonagall's office, but... I established in the earlier stories that by her fourth year, Ginny is good friends with Susan Ward and has reconciled with Daphne Rumluck. And both girls, as written in "Secrets," do not like Ginny AT ALL by the time Ginny is freed of Tom's influence... and for reasons Ginny would have a hard time blaming on Tom's direct influence. In other words, I've written myself into a bit of a corner and am having to do some characterization sleight-of-hand. I am not much of a magician, so it's going slowly. *sigh*)

3. Vicky gave me a free 6-month Netflix subscription for my birthday. My first movie arrived today! (I will watch it tomorrow or maybe on the weekend.)
