She was just sort of there around the edges for me too, until I started writing her... at which point she promptly moved into my head, set up residence, and has yet to show the slightest sign of leaving. I had ridiculous amounts of fun extrapolating her character before OotP and HBP were written, and I seem to have done reasonably well -- though I swear, in my stories, people are actually allowed to notice that she can be a nasty piece of work when she lets her temper and impulses get away from her. *sulks a bit more about canon*
