If that was the intended point of the dresses, fair enough. Movies made from books are inherently alternate universes and as such the writers/directors/costumers can slap whatever ideas they want onto the story. I can likewise react to those ideas however I want, and I think Jadis being a morphing 'creature' is a stupid idea not supported by book canon nor well-signaled by the film itself (as you can tell by the fact that I 'missed the point' of it), and that idea does not change the fact that the clothes in question are ugly and impractical. So it goes.
