Yeah, Shino wasn't initially one of my favorites, and then something happened, I'm not sure what. I think it started with my thinking about the Aburame, how most hives are matriarchal and it ought to follow that their clan would share that pattern, and yet somehow both the current leader and current heir are male. I wanted to know how the latter might have come about, if one assumes the Aburame were founded by, and traditionally led by, women. (The clan name is supposed to translate to "Oil Woman" after all.) And it...cascaded, I guess is the best term.
The resulting plot explorations wound up twining themselves through the version of the Naruto world I had started writing, none which ever seems to actually get *done*. But when they're far enough along to really warrant showing, I'll definitely drop you a line.
