birthday, snow, and "Secrets"
Feb. 10th, 2010 10:28 pmToday I am 28 years old. *makes note to change profile info*
Aside from the snow-shoveling, I had a good day. I slept in obscenely late, then goofed off for most of the afternoon, taking a break to talk with Susan, to call my parents, and to go grocery shopping. And shovel more snow.
(We did not get all that much snow down in the lake valley in Ithaca -- I would estimate 3 to 4 inches, tops -- but it was very dense, wet snow, and it got caked onto the sidewalk and was a bitch and a half to scrape off. In fact, I kind of gave up on scraping the walk clear; the top inches are gone everywhere, but about half the walk is still coated in a half inch of stubborn snow-scale. [Snow-scale is like limescale, but on your sidewalk rather than your sink and faucet.])
Anyway! I have been poking some more at "Secrets," and am about done with the Ginny-Daphne scene, which just leaves the wrap-up scene on the Hogwarts express... though perhaps I should have Ginny and Apple talk after Daphne leaves the trophy room? Hmm, there's a thought. The scene as a whole went extremely sideways from my outline, but I like the end result much better. It gets at a couple points I was not sure how to make, and produces some useful catharsis and realizations for Ginny. Plus, hey, sometimes in real life, things don't resolve neatly; it's nice to reflect that.
I am beginning to hope I may have the rough draft of ch. 14 done by the end of the month. *crosses fingers*
