Allergy season officially began Saturday afternoon, when my eyes started itching for no damn reason. Sunday added a runny nose and sneezing fits.

I will be zoned out on Benadryl for the next month or so. Do not expect rationality from me.

Despite that, I did write a little tonight. I am back to fiddling at ch. 6 of "Strange Likenesses" -- perhaps because I am feeling all grr, argh at the moment -- and am tiptoeing up to the SHOCK!!! plot development. (I can't call it a plot twist, because I am foreshadowing it with ye old sledgehammer of obviousness, but it very definitely closes off any possibility of a happy story resolution, I think, because it gets rid of the knowledge necessary for that to happen. So yeah.) Also, I seem to have included Professor McGonagall, which is nice, albeit slightly random.

Okay. Bed now.

And here people thought that when I wrote of allergies in ff that I was exaggerating. Oh no, Easter dinner yesterday included extensive discussions of sprays, antihistamines, Neti pots, air conditioning, and washing cars when the trees start having sex in the dawn hours. After being completely incapacitated last year I have found, so far, the following regimen is working:
steroid nasal spray; over the counter generic zyrtec; generic Allegra (prescription), Singulair, with generic Benadryl at night as needed. I do not want to remove my eyes from head. Good luck! I feel your pain!

Wow, that is a thorough regimen. I hope it continues to work!

I have problems with a lot of medications (namely, my body chemistry seems slightly off-kilter, so anything non-drowsy tends not to touch my symptoms at all), but I get by quite tolerably with Benadryl or generic knock-offs thereof -- so long as I get at least eight hours of sleep per night. (When I don't get eight hours of sleep, though... well, that's when my coworkers start keeping logs of my complete non-sequiturs and other remarks that would normally get censored before they got anywhere near being spoken aloud. *sigh*)

Rather than being zoned out on Benadryl all the time, you might want to try Zyrtec (or Walgreen's generic equivalent); it handles the allergens pretty well (IMO) and doesn't make you sleepy.

I do not generally have much luck with non-drowsy medications, but I will look into that. Thanks!
