Remix stories go anonymously live tomorrow around 3pm. I both cannot wait and wish tomorrow would not come for another week. This is because I really want to see what my remixer did with one of my stories (and to learn which story ze chose)... while on the other hand, I am still working to flesh out the godawful rough draft scenes at the end of my own remix. I mean, they are minimally functional as is, but minimally functional is a polite way of saying "They suck" and also "They are logistically and emotionally incoherent, plus the balance between telling and showing is way the hell out of whack compared to the preceding scenes." So, you know, I am busy editing, where editing translates to cut-and-pasting the original draft into an alternate scenes document and essentially rewriting the damn thing at three (or four, or five, so help me) times the length so as to force the story to make sense.

*headdesk*

I know I have issues with deadlines and with stories growing absurdly long and complicated compared to my original outlines and wordcount estimates. I know this. So why do I keep getting myself into situations like this mess???

...

In my defense, it will (I hope) be a pretty cool story when I have it fixed up.
