I know! I was trying to figure out what had caused the odd motion, and after I ruled out hallucination, inner ear problems, and heavy machinery at the nearby construction site, about the only thing left was an earthquake. But I dismissed that because earthquakes don't happen around here... except, I guess, when they do! So weird.

It felt like my house had become a boat and was floating on gently rolling water for a minute or so. Nothing dangerous, just unsettling.

I have read that story and enjoyed it very much. (This despite the first-person narration, which I am not usually fond of in the slightest.) It could indeed stand to have various stuff trimmed and various other scenes expanded, but it is long enough to get seriously absorbed in, it has lots of thoughtful world-building, and it has a plot that isn't romance. Also, it doesn't forget Ethan, Magenta, and Zack, which is always a bonus. :-)
