edenfalling

Have been sleeping for shit the past several days -- I take too long to fall asleep, wake up frequently, and haven't been going to bed anything remotely like early enough to compensate. Which has resulted in me being late to work three days running, thereby pissing off my manager, and also having several moments of absolutely brilliant brain-dead idiocy when I am supposed to be one of the intelligent and reliable employees. :-(

My reaction to major stress tends to be either to sleep forever, or to stop sleeping. I am not sure what makes me react one way or the other to any given situation, but neither response is particularly helpful -- they are both obviously avoidance mechanisms, only the "sleep" one means I get lost in my own head and the "awake" one tends to come with a lot of obsessive reading, so I am getting lost in other people's heads. Either way, I am trying not to think about things by overloading my mind with other ideas and stories.

It never really works, you know?
