I love this, Liz. Every time I read what you have done with this time period and with these characters it makes me want to tear down everything I've ever done in the same. Your insight into this time period -- the characters, the politics, and the worldbuilding, are just superlative. Now yes, once again, we are treated to an outsider view of Edmund, but you know, you write the others so well and Edmund is great to be observed from a third person POV. So, more Cor. More Aravis, more Bree and Hwin. The Pevensies will be shoved back to England soon enough anyway, so who cares?
Edmund is terrific here in how he helps Cor understand the relationship between service in Arsheesh's cot and being a King. It is reminiscent of what Lune tells Cor earlier and echoes Aslan's charge to Frank and Helen (which I had not realized until I re-read it recently). Brilliant as always.
