Yuletide assignments have gone out, and I am not in the least surprised that I was matched on one of the two fandoms I offered after looking at the signup summary page and saying, "Oh, hey, someone requested that, nobody's offered it, and I know that canon source. Sure, why not, I could write that."

Fortunately, I was matched on the source I happen to have sitting in my apartment instead of the one that I am pretty sure has been out of print for twenty years and the only copy I know of offhand is in my old hometown library in New Jersey, four hours away from me. :-) Convenience of access is a beautiful thing. Now I just have to reread the blasted book.

Of course, first I have to finish reading A Dance with Dragons, because I promised Vicky I would read that book by Thanksgiving so she could squee and gripe about it with me (and get into elaborate Wild Mass Guessing theories about the plot and characters and world-building, because that is what we do together), and to hell with the minor detail that I haven't reread the first four books in the series for at least four years. Page 71 and counting... out of 959. *headdesk*

(As you may have gathered from that, Vicky did not, in fact, arrive tonight. She's been intermittently sick this weekend and had a bit of a relapse this afternoon. She will be coming up with my parents and their dog tomorrow.)
