Dammit, this is a FUN story. FUN!!! It is silly and it amuses me and it's even in a style I have previously played around with (more or less) and it leads up to a fun ending and...

(500 words, FYI. A completely different 500 words from my previous attempt, because I did need to delete all of them and start over in a completely different style. This fic is all about stylization, not about my normal narrative voice, and especially not about my world-building obsession.)

Well, I have broken the minimum word count, but I think I'm only... halfway through the story, maybe? It won't be remotely as long as the epic I wrote last year, thank goodness, though it's been equally annoying in its own way.
