So the problem with writing a chapter in which John is the POV character, and making him interact with first Vriska and then Tavros (and possibly Gamzee and/or Equius as well) is that A) John is hard to write, B) Vriska is tricky to write, C) Tavros is freaking impossible to write, and D) Gamzee and Equius... are Gamzee and Equius. Yeah.

I mean, Eridan is also tricky and annoying to write, but at least when I was writing him I had Aradia, Rose, and Feferi in the same chapter to help carry me over the hard parts. This, though. This is just logistics fail at the highest level.

*beats head against desk*

...Maybe this will look more approachable in the morning.

(Also maybe I should stick Feferi in somewhere, just for the shell of it. It can't be any more random than some other scenes that have already appeared in this story.)

Maybe it would help if you had some rpers talking the scene out? I mean, maybe not Gamzee, because it's very rare to find a good Gamzee rper, but yeah.

Or maybe find someone who either isn't reading the story or doesn't mind spoilers and discuss where you're trying to take the story and why the characters aren't cooperating. Another perspective might be all you need, and even if the person you're talking to doesn't know much about Homestuck, I've found that just having a sounding board is immensely helpful.

It's more that I have a hard time writing Tavros, because as I think I have said before in other contexts, he slides right out of my mind unless I am working really hard to focus on him. Mental absconding, if you will! So instead of "listening" to two people talk and transcribing the conversation (with edits as necessary for plot reasons), I can only write his pesterlog with Jothan in fits and starts. Jothan's side goes smoothly enough, but every time Tavros responds it's like I am trapped by a minefield of speedbumps in the dark. Or something, I dunno, that was an awkward simile.

But I have about 500 words of pesterlog, so I am making progress. Just very, very slowly. *sigh*

Mnh. Maaaaaaaaybe, but probably not. I admire people who can be collaborative with their story process, but mine is basically me and my head alone in a room until I bash through whatever the current problem is.
