Actual text from the lesson I am supposed to teach this Sunday:
Questions you might ask about the story:
--Why did Naomi and her husband Elimelech move away from Moab , in the first place? Why did they decide to go and live in Bethlehem instead?
--A long time later, Naomi's husband and her two grown-up sons died. Why did Naomi decide to move back to Moab after that?
--How were Naomi and Ruth related?
--Why do you think Ruth decided to stay with Naomi?
--Do you think it was difficult for Ruth to leave Bethlehem, the place where she had grown up all her life? Why would that be hard?
--What was good for Ruth about the new place she moved to with Naomi?
NO. BAD. WRONG. STOP IT.
This is extra annoying when barely two paragraphs later the lesson correctly states that Ruth and Naomi moved from Moab to Bethlehem, not vice versa. I just. Can people not take half a minute to copy-edit these things? Particularly since there are a fair number of UUs who would NOT be able to spot that error off the top of their heads and therefore might confuse kids by reading the questions as written?
Also the page has weird punctuation fail all the way through -- random spaces inserted before several periods and commas , a bit like this . It is maddening to read.
*pulls hair, gnashes teeth*
